HOUSE AT TANAH MERAH

This is a double-storey house design for a couple with two kids.

An inner courtyard is hiding at the back of the house, deriving from a “U” shaped layout. This courtyard is surrounded by main living, dining and gathering spaces.

Verandah and covered walkway are intentionally proposed, which soften the building borders while providing basic shelters for semi-outdoor activities.

The site is located at a T-junction of a “Taman” road and next to a grass field. In an attempt to create a stronger sense of privacy, solid timber screen is proposed for the balconies on the upper floor, which can be directly approached from bedrooms.
